Recent specialist auctions have included English hammered coins from the renowned collection of Archbishop John Sharp (1644-1714) and a highly specialised cabinet of English groats, Edward I – Mary Tudor, from the Motcomb collection. In November 2018 an exquisite and perfectly-preserved five-guinea piece of William and Mary sold for a record figure of £192,000 while a superb series of Baden ducats, many made from alluvial Rheingold recovered from the river, also attracted strong prices in the same sale.
